Herbal Medicine Making
10:00-4:30 Apothecary Wellness Center, Burlington
Saturday September 8, 2018 Tuition: $65, includes live instruction, hand outs and all plant material used in class.
The quality of your herbal medicine begins with the quality of your plant material. This herbal intensive will begin with a hands on- fill your senses approach to assessing herb quality and move on to a full day of medicine making.
Students will gain hands on practical skills through demonstration and actively participating in making herbal medicine in class.
10:00-12:30 Introduction to Herbal Medicine Making
Plant identification, Assessing herb quality
Water based infusions, decoctions
12:30-1:30 Lunch break, bring a sack lunch
1:30-4:30 Herbal Nourishment through Vinegars and Oxymiels
Herbal Medicine Making: Tinctures and Elixers
Dosage, Safety, Ethics.
Supplies: Students will take home herbal remedies made in class. Please bring the following supplies:
4- 4 ounce jars, wide mouth canning jars preferred.
One pint each of 100 proof Vodka or 80 proof brandy, apple cider vinegar, local honey. Agave syrup for vegan.
Small cutting board, knife
Mug or cup to sample herbal infusions.
